Police say an officer fired two shots at the boy on Saturday morning after he failed to obey an order to raise his hands. He died in hospital on Sunday morning. A caller reported the child to police for scaring people with a gun but said that he did not know if it was real. The boy was shot twice after pulling the gun from the waistband of his trousers but did not make any verbal threats or point the gun at police. The weapon turned out to be an "airsoft" pistol, a replica gun that resembles a semi-automatic weapon. An orange safety indicator had been removed from the gun which distinguishes it as an imitation. An investigation is underway into the killing with two police officers placed on administrative leave. /Rex_Tamir_Rice_4270541I/Rex Features Ltd. do not claim any Copyright or License of the attached image/1411271054
