Nagatani Village, which is deep in the Ohi District of Japan, used to have 70 people living in it, however a dam was due to be constructed nearby in 1966. Despite opposing the plan, villagers left one by one until the village was completely empty and nature took its course. Kei Oumawatari discovered houses, shrines and temples had been knocked down by overgrown trees which took root in the remains. The saddest part of the whole experience is that the planned dam was scrapped, meaning the villagers had no need to leave their homes whatsoever. HYPER REALISTIC ARTWORK 11/07/2019 CATERS/SIPA Pic by Caters News - Pictured: One artists painstaking creations are that realistic, they look more like photographs than drawings. Okeke Chukwuka Francis, 26, studies urban and regional planning at the Federal University Technology in Minna, however when its holiday time and Okeke returns to his home in Abuja, Nigeria, he practises his true love of art. The self-taught visual artist has never once formally studied art, but his passion and talent has caused Okeke to create stunning drawings that look so realistic youd swear they were photographs.Inspired by the pioneers of photo-realism and hyper-realism, such as Gottfried Helnwein and Emanuele Dascanio, and sometimes using himself as his own muse, Okeke spends up to 100 hours to bring his incredible works of art to life. Using simple materials such as charcoal pencils and graphite, Okekes works are true masterpieces. SEE CATERS COPY. - //CATERSNEWSAGENCY_10535/1907111506/Credit:CATERS/SIPA/1907111508

UV SUNSET BODY PAINT 10/07/2019 CATERS/SIPA Pic by Caters News - PICTURED: A skilled UV body painter uses models bare bodies as his canvas as he brings beautiful summertime sunset scenes to life. Some artists use pencil and paper to bring their visions to life, but John Poppleton, 48, prefers to use UV lights and naked models as his tools to create his beautiful sunset portraits. Working out of his dark studio in Wellsville, Utah, John has his models sit upright in order that he can use their backs as his canvas. Using body paint and working under UV lights, Johns imagination and skill come together to create sunset backdrops that look as though they have been taken out of a holiday brochure. UK premiere of Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel: A Different View exhibition in Winchester. Renaissance master Michelangelo spent four years of his life high up on scaffolding under the vaulted ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome, painting one of the most famous frescoes in the world. Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel: A Different View (5 July Ð 29 September 2019) - the UK premiere of this international exhibition - allows for the first time ever closeness to the magnificent works, normally 22 metres above visitorsÕ heads. Officially licensed by the Vatican Museums, the frescoes have been photographed and reproduced at high resolution and transferred to special fabric webs. This technique allows a true-to-life reproduction of the ceiling and gives visitors a unique opportunity for an otherwise impossible close-up view. The exhibition is split across the three Winchester venues, it starts at the Winchester Discovery Centre, and finishes at the 13th century Great Hall, home of the symbolic Medieval Round Table, where a giant 6 metre x 6 metre panel of The Last Judgment is on display. These stunning photographs of unusual reflections on the surface of water look like Monet paintings. The rippled effect of light hitting the water make the scenes look like they're made up of hundreds of brush strokes. Rather than using professional kit costing thousands of pounds, photographer Warren Krupsaw, 76, captured the shots with a camera that cost just £280 ($350). The leaves reflected on rippling water, or refracted colour on the surface of a lake turn into stunning visuals Mr Krupsaw created with the cheap point-and-shoot camera. SEE OUR COPY FOR DETAILS. Pictured: Trees reflected in heavy rain. Rice farmers working in the sun create extraordinary shadows resembling a puppet show or illustrations from one of the Harry Potter movies 06/07/2019 Abdul Momin/Solent News/SIPA Rice farmers working in the sun create extraordinary shadows resembling a puppet show or illustrations from one of the Harry Potter movies. The workers are busy flipping rice grains while they dry unaware that, from the air, they are casting such striking images. In the 35 degree heat, the mid morning sun creates shadows that resemble Indonesian shadow puppet shows or the animation from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Scores of farmers work across miles of rice fields, regularly turning the grains of rice so they dry evenly in the sunshine. SEE OUR COPY FOR DETAILS. UK premiere of Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel: A Different View exhibition in Winchester. Renaissance master Michelangelo spent four years of his life high up on scaffolding under the vaulted ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome, painting probably the most famous, awe-inspiring frescoes in the world.
